Open letter to the German Foreign Minister Mrs Baerbock

Dear Federal Minister Baerbock,
The Iranian Forum in Austria, an association of numerous Iranian organisations and personalities, is writing to you to request that you refrain from accepting the heinous crime of the execution of a German citizen, “Mr Jamshid Sharmahd” by the Islamic regime in Iran.
It would be a misstep for Germany to allow itself to be humiliated in this way by the Iranian mullahs. This is evidenced by the case of a German citizen from Dubai who was abducted to Iran, held incommunicado, tortured and executed without a fair trial.
The collective response of EU governments to the Mykonos incident, in which an Iranian diplomat was killed in Berlin, demonstrated that the Islamic Republic of Iran is vulnerable to diplomatic pressure. It is recommended that all EU countries reduce the level of their diplomatic relations with the regime in Tehran and recall their ambassadors from Tehran or expel the regime’s ambassadors in EU countries, with particular attention to the ambassador in Germany.
Dear Foreign Minister,
We would like to remind you that the issuance of the aforementioned communiqué, which declares the three Iranian islands in the Persian Gulf to be ‘occupied’, is in contravention of international law. Furthermore, the EU’s failure to adhere to its own commitments to a ‘rule-based international order’ has the potential to precipitate a future conflict.
Instead, the EU should prioritise the protection of the human rights of its own citizens and Iranian citizens, and make an example of the Mullah regime with the diplomatic consequences of its actions.
The details of this gruesome execution are surely known to you and the media.
With kind regards
Iranian forum Austria
