Attack on Iranian journalist in London

We, the Committee for the Defense of Human Rights in Iran – Austria and Medical Professionals for Human Rights in Iran – Austria, would like to express our deep concern about the attack on Iranian journalist Pouria Zeraati in London.

It is deeply disturbing that a journalist dedicated to disseminating information from whatever angle has been the victim of such a violent attack.

The attack on the television journalist is a blatant violation of human rights in two ways: It is an attack on the universally enshrined human right to life and, at the same time, an attack on the freedom of expression and freedom of the press of free journalism.

It is crucial that we stand together against such attacks and make it clear that violence against journalists is unacceptable.

We hope that the attacker(s) will soon be found and brought to justice.

We wish the victim of this act of terror, Mr. Pouria Zeraati, a speedy recovery and a speedy resumption of his work as a journalist.
